Early Life and Family

He was born roughly “Nashville” Tennessee but moved to Florida after his father was murdered when he was two. He, along with his brother, grew up listening to famous blues rock artists like B.B. King, Muddy Waters, and Little Richard. As they got older, they formed southern rock bands and would perform at local clubs.

Gregg Allman was born to Willis Turner Allman and Geraldine Robbins Allman. Duane Allman, a famous guitarist and the co-founder of The Allman Brothers Band, was his older sibling. Sadly, Duane passed away in a motorcycle crash in 1971 which was a huge shock for Gregg on a personal and professional level.
